Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes. — Maggie Kuhn
Today is just a few weeks from the second Trump presidency. I feel like the air has been let out of life. If he were not so damned vindictive, it wouldn’t feel like the end of the world, but here we are. I did not vote for him. Neither did any of my friends (that I know of).
The Trump voters I have spoken with have all been ignorant of his hate and his crimes. It’s “He signed that check” (about the checks we had to fight for during the COVID crisis) or that he’s going to lower grocery prices (which he admitted he probably won’t be able to do). I probably don’t get to interact with his meanest supporters, who would love to “deport” me (to an extermination camp), so no one has mentioned that they voted to remove the brown or gay people.
I will oppose him with my words, actions, and life. I’m not going to say it will be easy, nor will I say that I won’t be tempted to submit. I will continue to listen to whatever music I choose, look at the art, shield my friends, and defend the freedom to express until my dying breath.
